About Face Me Portraits

Hey there! I’m Linus Schief, and I’m happy you’ve found your way to Face Me — a portrait project that’s as much about connection as it is about art.

How It Began

In January 2024, I set out on a little experiment: sitting face-to-face with people and drawing their portraits without ever looking away from their faces until the drawing was done. What started as a simple exercise in connection and perception quickly turned into something much bigger. Since then, I’ve drawn over 600 faces—whether in person, over video calls, or from photos—at bars, concerts, weddings, birthday parties, work events, and more. And honestly, it never gets old.

How It’s Evolving

As the project grew, so did my approach. I explored a variety of styles—from wildly unpredictable blind drawings (where I don’t peek at all), to half-blind ones (a quick glance here and there), and then to more traditional portraits from photos. I also learned how to digitize and print the work, which gave me fresh ways to play with composition. You’ll find all these options here on the site, along with flexible ways to “face me” — in person, over video, or via photos — and convenient pickup or shipping choices. I’ve aimed to make the whole process smooth and enjoyable, but if you hit any snags, just reach out—I’m here to help!

A Little About Me

I call Tucson, AZ home, where I’m an artist, musician, and amall business owner. You can find me at my shop, Warm Shape, in Tucson’s Mercado District, where I showcase art and crafts by myself and friends. I’m a weaver, designer, painter, seamstress, drummer, singer—and currently learning bass guitar. My constant companion is Lady, my sweet little dog, who loves hanging out at the shop. I’m a Leo who’s passionate about the sun, volcanoes, basketball, nuns, eggs, outer space, homemade clothes, cooking, coffee, and a good nap.

My Artistic Journey

My fascination with faces started early—my very first figure drawing, “Mans,” was done when I was four years old (and still lives proudly in my baby book). I grew up sketching family members, teen heartthrobs of the ’90s, and spooky faces that unnerved my parents. Throughout school, I was obsessed with drawing faces, and drew hyper-realistic eyes in notebooks. I took as many art classes as possible and though everyone expected me to dive into art college straight away, I took a different path—partying lol. I played music in the band LAKE, touring and recording with them for seven years. In my mid-30’s I began my academic journey at The Evergreen State College, graduating with a liberal arts degree as a first-generation student.

By the time I launched Face Me at 45, drawing had transformed from a skill into a joyful rediscovery—a playful, interactive experience that feels like childhood all over again. This project isn’t about “good” or “bad” art—it’s about moments shared, connection made, and simply what is.

How This Site Works

This site is designed to make it easy for you to get your own Face Me portrait. You can choose a style, schedule a session in person or via video call, or submit photos. It’s also the spot to purchase your portrait and any goodies like prints or t-shirts. Like the project itself, the site is a bit experimental—but hopefully straightforward. If you get stuck or have questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me!

Ready to Get Started?

  1. Browse the Portraits & Styles & Info page or check out the products to find the style that speaks to you.
  2. Fill out the form on your chosen product page, then make your purchase with options that correspond to your needs.
  3. Once I receive your order and form, I’ll reach out to coordinate next steps!

A quick heads-up: animals count as subjects too, but since they tend to wiggle, I only draw them from photos. So if you’re booking a face-to-face or video session with your furry friend, have some photos ready for me to work from on the spot.
