Portraits Styles & Info

Welcome to “Face Me” Portraits!

I’m so thrilled you found me and my project, “Face Me” portraits!

This website is my way of making it easy for you to get a portrait created by me—whether that’s by submitting your photos or scheduling a face-to-face session. You can also use this site to pay for your portrait and any awesome merchandise you might want, like t-shirts, prints, and more.

Fair warning: this site is as experimental as my “Face Me” project itself! I’m hoping the process runs smoothly, but if you ever feel confused or have questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out through the Contact page—I’m here to help!

Keep reading to learn more about the portrait styles I offer and how to place your order.

Portrait Styles

I work in a variety of styles and can create your portrait in person, over a video call, or from photos (great for gifts!). You can have your finished portrait shipped to you or pick it up locally in Tucson, AZ. All options are available right here on the website!

Blind Portrait

The original “Face Me” portrait is a totally blind drawing — meaning I draw without looking at the paper once until it’s finished! The results are unpredictable, often chaotic, and always unique. This style is my personal favorite because it perfectly captures the fun, experimental spirit of the project. For me, the magic happens when I don’t know what is happening on the page.

Blind portraits are especially fun in person because we get to look at each other throughout the session, with the big reveal happening at the end. When multiple people (up to four) are on one page, the overlapping lines make for some wild, crazy results! These are drawn with a black marker on 8.5”x11” white cardstock.

*Adding a Pet to a Blind Portrait

Pets are a bit trickier—they move around too much for blind drawing! So I prefer to draw them from photos, and since they’re just too adorable, I allow myself a little peek while drawing them. The result? A charming combo of a weird-looking human with their cute furry companion 😁.

(Please note, pets are counted as a subject in your portrait)

Composed Blind Portrait

This is an extension of the blind portrait style. Instead of drawing everyone on one sheet, I create individual blind drawings on separate pages, then compose and print the final portrait on beautiful, high-quality linen paper available in various sizes.

Because I have more control over composition here, there’s basically no limit to how many subjects can be included!

Note: some pets in the gallery below were drawn totally blind, others with a peek (I was trying both techniques!) — generally I look a little for pet drawings but if you’d prefer I do totally blind for them as well,  just let me know in the notes when you fill out the order form.

Composed Half-blind Portrait

For this style, I do peek at the paper a bit while drawing ;) It’s less chaotic but still keeps the playful spirit of the blind portraits.

These are also composed and printed on linen paper and can include as many subjects as you want. I prefer to create these from photos on my own time rather than in person.

“Totally Normal” Portrait

Want something a bit more traditional? This style is drawn directly from your photos with my own unique artistic touch and flair.

Just submit your favorite photos, and I’ll create and compose a beautiful portrait for you.

Pet Portraits

For pet portraits, I do a “half-blind” style where I look a little 🫣. The “flavor” of a blind portrait is still there, but with a less chaotic result. I draw your friends from photos (submit below) and then compose the drawings into a final portrait and print on 60lb Red River linen paper.
